I've never bothered to check out Indianapolis Motor Speedway

After living in this city for 8 years, you would think I would have been to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway once. Well I have not.

I guess I have never had a reason to go. I do not follow racing. I really don't care about the 500 or the Brickyard. Carb day might be fun, but I always have to work. Sure I would like to see the track someday, but right now it just isn't a high priority.

The view is beautiful from The Strip at Night

My second favorite place to shoot pictures is the Las Vegas Strip at night. don't get me wrong the strip during the day is nice, but I prefer at night.

The lights, the buildings, the people, and the energy are amazing. I love the pictures you can take and the new dimension the bright lights give all the buildings.

The view is beautiful from The Golden Gate Bridge

I know this is cheesy and beyond touristy, but I love the Golden Gate Bridge. There is just so much you can see!

The grounds are great. You can get tons of pictures of the bridge itself. The Fort around the Bridge is great photography fodder too. From the bridge you can get pictures of the bay, the city and close ups of the bridges towers. I could max out my memory card there easily.

A Torrid in my town would be nice

I'm a weird shopper. I"m not big into shopping. I'm more of a planned person. I know what i am getting from where and it is done. However, if I like a store I am more likely to jut go in to look. Torrid is one of those stores…but since we do not have one I have to order online.

Torrid is a great store. It has casual clothes, dress clothes, and my Goth clothes all in one place. I have ordered enough from them I know my sizes, I woulds still like to buy things face to face.

Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, Las Vegas

Hotel: Planet Hollywood

Location: Las Vegas

Reason for Trip: Girls Getaway

A friend and I stayed at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas September 21-23. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay.

We booked the Hollywood Hip room under the Drinks are on us promotion, so we received a bottle of liquor for each night we stayed (the promotion has changed to per stay, but our room was booked under the old terms). The room was plenty big. There has initially been three of us, and there would have been plenty of room for a roll-away bed. We were in the White Men Can’t Jump room, and there was memorabilia from them movie around the room. The two queen beds were awesomely comfortable. The flat screen TV was nice (but we rarely used it). The bathroom was huge. There was a shower, vanity area, soaking tub and a toilet area. The soaking tub was fabulous after a long day of walking on the strip.

The casino was small, but fun. We stuck mainly to the slots, so we were okay, but bigger gamblers may find a bigger casino more to their liking. There were many food options on site. We saw a lunch special for Yolos (a Mexican grill) during check in, so we checked that out first. The 12.95 was well worth it (salsa and chips, a salad, and an entrée), plus you can get a house margarita for 3.95. The only other place we ate in the actual casino was the Planet Daillies. It is a 24 hour café on the casino floor. The prices are mid range, but you do get a coupon at check in. I had a breakfast scrambler, and it was pretty tasty. Granted, had it not been after midnight, and I had not been alone I may have gone looking outside of the casino. There is The Spice Market Buffet, and Earl of Sandwich and Koi also on site. There are also a few bars and lounges like with any casino. The Extra Lounge hosted Monday Night Football, so that was a plus for us (the Colts were playing).

The casino is also attached to the Miracile Mile Shops. It is fun to walk around, shop, pick up souvenirs at the ABC store, and people watch in the mall. There are also more food options. There is even a place where you can get breakfast for $4.00 (La Salsa Cantina).

One of the things we loved about Planet Hollywood, was its location. It is centrally located on the strip. A Walgreens is just a short walk away. Many of the main attractions are near by. Sure, it is nearly a three mile walk to the Stratosphere, but there are lots of places to stop along the way. It was also great to have so much to do under one roof. Yes we loved Vegas and being out and about, but it was also nice to have a great place to call base camp.

We have decided to make this an annual trip, and we are going to stay here again!

The James Hotel: Well worth it

I probably couldn't never had afforded it at the time, but this was a great place to stay. The rooms are fabulous, the steakhouse is awesome, and the staff is amazing.

My sister and I stayed there as part of a trip I had won. We had a four day spa trip.

We were treated like A-listers through out our whole stay. Staff members …even the doormen remembered us and were always very helpful. We indulged at a spa just down the street, shopped on Michigan avenue and out at Clark and Belmont, went to a wine tasting and had an all arounf fabulous time.

The bar was great and the steakhouse was amazing. We were able to eat three meals there, and each was awesome. They even had a little business center we both used to print our boarding passes and check in the with rest of the world.

How can you not love the modern look, turn down service and the stick figure city scape?

Pinecrest Diner might not be healthy, but it's tasty

It is a little hole in the wall diner on the edge of Union Square, and I love it. It is a great place to people watch during the day and grab a quick bite after a night out. You have to walk through dark hallways and stair wells to reach the restrooms (that can sometimes resemble to stall from the move Trainspotting), and I'm still not sure how that guy with a walker made it down there and back. Yes…it is the Pinecrest Diner in all its brown Formica glory.

Most everything they serve is fabulous, but I love their breakfasts the most. My favorite is the ham and cheese omelette. Give me a bottle of ketchup for the hashbrowns and grape jelly for my wheat toast, and I am happy girl.

It was my first meal upon landing in San Francisco, and something about it just brings back those memories. I was so excited to be there, and I couldn't wait to start my first, real, solo vacation. It is so bad for you. but I figure I walk off the calories during my stay.

Why I do Web design and Blog at Karaoke Shows

  1. I work for a DJ/Karaoke company. I update their web site so sometimes I just have to work at a show doing pictures and video, and if I’m already working why not do a blog or two
  2. Um people work in coffee shops that have wi fi, how is a bar different?
  3. I need more hours in a day…I’ve been known to blog from my phone while actually *running* a show to meet a deadline
  4. They frown on me blogging and writing at my full time job for very obvious reasons. This is something I need to be doing on my own time.
  5. Sometimes writing for hours on end on my couch with moody cockatiels and psychotic parakeets gets a little old. I want to have a little denial that I am a crazy bird lady.
  6. Mo’s actually has a little room just off the DJ booth where I can work pretty much undisturbed the whole night.
  7. I’ve tried to get the birds to run the home business in my absence, but they are just lazy
  8. I seriously get bored way too easily and I start thinking about all the other things I should be doing. This eliminates that.
  9. Fine…I just like making myself look halfway decent and enjoying time out
  10. It is actually a great way to network…I’ve actually made 2 business contacts already this evening

So maybe I am a karaoke junkie…but multi tasking works in my favor
