5/17: Road Trip Tips

When I was touring with Laredo ( a country band) the one big complaint I heard from my bandmates was  that they always gained weight while on the road.  It is easy to do.  You are in your car all day long, and your stops take you to gas stations filled with tempting junk food.  It is sometimes hard to resist.  If you get just junk food at each stop and keep eating the same amount (if not more than) you usually do at meals, plus you are doing less activity, weight gain will happen.  My band mates hated me because I would lose weight on the road.  My secret is simple: just say no to gas station food.   Pack you own snacks for the road trip.  Also watch your portion size at meals.  You can’t take leftovers with you so sometimes you feel obligated to eat it all.  Opt for smaller portion sizes and remember you do not have to eat it all.
